Lady Colonels Capture Momentum at the Lady Colonel Classic

The Christian County Lady Colonels soccer team turned the Lady Colonel Classic into a turning point on September 6th at the Stadium of Champions, collecting two well-earned wins that could spark the rest of their season.

The day opened with a matchup against the Warren Central Lady Dragons, a team still searching for their first win. Both sides battled evenly through much of the first half until Jayleigh Campbell broke the deadlock in the final minutes before halftime. Her goal gave Christian County a 1-0 advantage at the break and shifted the energy of the match.

In the second half, Norah Westerfield added a crucial insurance goal, and the Lady Colonels’ defense shut the door to secure the 2-0 win. That victory gave Christian County confidence heading into their second contest of the day against McLean County.

Against the Lady Cougars, Campbell once again opened the scoring with a penalty kick after a handball call. Westerfield then scored just minutes into the second half, building the lead to 2-0. McLean County fought back with a rebound goal, but the Lady Colonels responded with poise. Carliah Hobson’s late strike sealed a 3-1 win and capped off a perfect day.

With Campbell, Westerfield, and Hobson all finding the net, and the defense showing grit in key moments, Christian County proved that their record does not define their potential. The two wins pushed the Lady Colonels to 3-5-1, but more importantly, they provided momentum and belief as the team heads deeper into the season.

The Lady Colonel Classic was more than just a pair of victories—it was a statement that Christian County has the talent, depth, and determination to compete. As the schedule intensifies, these wins could serve as the spark that fuels a strong second half of the year.
