Workforce Wednesday: Promise Stout Gains Real-World Experience in the Biomedical Field

This week’s Workforce Wednesday spotlight is on Promise Stout, a Hopkinsville High School/Gateway Academy Biomedical Pathway student.

Promise Stout is taking her classroom learning straight into the healthcare field through her placement with Dr. Tresa C. White, DMD. At Dr. White’s dental practice, Promise is seeing firsthand how anatomy, physiology, and microbiology connect to real-world patient care. From observing diagnostic tools like X-rays and oral exams to understanding how infection control and sterilization procedures keep patients safe, she’s applying her biomedical studies in meaningful, hands-on ways.

Working in a clinical setting also gives Promise valuable insight into future career options—from dental hygiene to oral surgery and beyond. She’s developing essential communication and teamwork skills, learning how to interact with patients, and gaining an appreciation for the collaboration it takes to run a successful healthcare office.

Even more, Promise is getting a behind-the-scenes look at the business side of healthcare—scheduling, insurance, and patient coordination—all vital parts of the biomedical world that go beyond lab coats and microscopes.

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Tresa C. White and her amazing team as one of our new CCPS Co-op/Work-Based Learning partners this year. Opportunities like this help students like Promise grow their confidence, professionalism, and career readiness.

If your business or organization would like to be part of this powerful partnership program and help shape the future of our workforce, contact me, Kelly Gates, at kelly.gates@christian.kyschools.us.

Together, we’re turning classroom learning into career success—one student at a time.
