This week’s Workforce Wednesday spotlight features two Hopkinsville High School/Gateway Academy Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) students who are turning classroom lessons into real-world experience—Jessica Rodriguez and Deontre Coleman.
Jessica is part of the P.M. Co-op program, where she spends her afternoons at Chick-fil-A, gaining valuable experience in both culinary arts and customer service. Her time at Chick-fil-A allows her to strengthen her communication skills, work in a fast-paced environment, and see what it takes to keep one of Hopkinsville’s busiest restaurants running smoothly.

Meanwhile, Deontre has flipped the schedule! As a morning Co-op student, he starts his day bright and early at Chick-fil-A before heading to class in the afternoon. His unique schedule shows just how flexible the CCPS Co-op and Work-Based Learning programs can be for both students and employers.
There’s a common myth that businesses can’t participate in Co-op unless they need students all day or every day—but that’s simply not true. Whether your business can host a student for morning hours, afternoon shifts, or even select days each week, our program can accommodate a set schedule that fits your needs while giving students hands-on experience that matters.
A huge thank-you goes out to Chick-fil-A and their amazing team for everything they do to support our students. From leadership to teamwork and customer care, Chick-fil-A provides the perfect environment for students to grow personally and professionally—and their impact on our community is truly appreciated.

Together, we’re helping students build skills that last a lifetime—one opportunity at a time.
