Lady Colonels Secure Victory in Their Final Home Opener, Defeating Kenwood 68–47

The Christian County Lady Colonels made history on Friday night as they took the floor for their final home and season opener, earning a strong 68–47 win over the Kenwood Lady Knights. The night marked more than just the start of a season—it was the beginning of the Lady Colonels’ final chapter before the merge into the new Christian County High School.

The first quarter was a back-and-forth battle, with Kenwood edging out to an 11–6 lead midway through the frame. Despite a late push, Christian County ended the quarter trailing 15–10.

Momentum began to shift in the second quarter when Anaysia Bagwell sparked the Lady Colonels with multiple steals that led to quick scores, giving County a brief 19–18 advantage. Turnovers, however, kept the game tight, and a late bucket by Kenwood sent the Lady Colonels into halftime down 29–27.

The third quarter belonged to Christian County. After trailing for much of the period, the Lady Colonels turned up the defensive pressure, forcing turnovers and converting them into points. A highlight of the run came from Genesis McGee, who grabbed a crucial steal and powered through an and-one finish to help extend the lead. Christian County closed the quarter ahead 48–40 and never looked back.

In the fourth, the Lady Colonels continued to separate themselves with stout defense, transition play, and strong finishes at the rim. The final buzzer sealed a dominant 68–47 victory to open this historic season.

Bagwell led all scorers with an impressive 23 points, while Carliah Hobson added 13 to help pace the team.

Christian County now looks to build early-season momentum as they take on the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons on Monday, December 8, with tipoff set for 6 p.m. at Christian County High School.
