Fourteen Gifted and Talented students from Christian County Public Schools presented their science fair projects on Saturday, March 7, at the Louisville Regional Science and Engineering Fair, competing alongside students from across the region.
Several CCPS students earned top placements for their work.
Elijah Ebbinger of Hopkinsville High School received 2nd place in the Senior Division Material Science category for his project titled “Ghosting Vision.” His project explored concepts in material science and demonstrated strong research and experimentation.
Jessica McKenzie of Hopkinsville Middle School also earned 2nd place, placing in the Junior Division Energy: Sustainable Materials and Design category for her project “Beyond Just Sunlight.” Her project focused on innovative approaches related to sustainable energy and design.
Addison Renshaw of Christian County High School placed 4th in the Senior Division Plant Science category for her research project.
Because of their strong performances, Elijah Ebbinger and Jessica McKenzie have both received invitations to compete in the Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair, which will take place March 28 at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky.
The Louisville Regional Science and Engineering Fair provides students the opportunity to develop research skills, explore scientific questions, and present their work to judges and peers. Christian County Public Schools congratulates all fourteen students who represented the district and wishes Elijah and Jessica the best as they prepare to compete at the state level.
