The Hutson School of Agriculture at Murray State University recently hosted its annual STARS Recognition Banquet, celebrating the accomplishments of high school FFA students from across the region. Among those recognized for their exceptional leadership and contributions to agricultural education were students from Christian County High School and Hopkinsville High School.
Representing Christian County High School, Trinitie Ferrell and Cheyanne Rodgers received the prestigious FFA All-Region Star award. From Hopkinsville High School, Mollie Goode and Laura Kaufmann were also honored for their dedication and achievements in FFA. These students have gone above and beyond in their roles, demonstrating leadership, commitment to community service, and a passion for advancing agricultural knowledge and practices.
The banquet, held on November 18, brought together students, educators, and industry leaders from 18 counties within Murray State’s service region. It provided an opportunity to recognize the hard work of FFA members who are making significant contributions to their schools and communities.
The event featured a keynote address by Ms. Sharon Furches, a local farmer and advocate for agriculture. Ms. Furches shared insights on leadership, community engagement, and the vital role agriculture plays in society. Additional remarks were given by Dr. Tim Todd, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Murray State, Dr. Don Robertson, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, and Dr. Brian Parr, Dean of the Hutson School of Agriculture.
The FFA All-Region Star recognition highlights the exceptional achievements of students who are shaping the future of agriculture. The honorees were selected for their leadership within their FFA chapters and their ability to inspire others through community involvement and academic excellence.
