The Christian County Lady Colonels fought hard to erase an 18-point deficit in the second half but came up short in a 53-40 loss to McCracken County on Saturday night in the 2024 Holiday Hoopla Classic in West Paducah. Despite the loss, the Lady Colonels showed resilience and grit as they battled back into contention late in the game.
Christian County got off to a strong start, leading 9-5 early in the first quarter. However, McCracken County closed the period on a 9-0 run to take a 14-9 lead. By halftime, the Lady Mustangs had extended their lead to 32-17, capitalizing on a strong second-quarter performance.
The Lady Mustangs pushed their lead to 18 points twice in the third quarter, at 37-19 and 39-21. However, Christian County refused to back down. A 3-pointer by junior Anaysia Bagwell sparked a rally, and the Lady Colonels cut the deficit to 41-29 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Colonels’ comeback continued in the final frame. With 6:15 remaining, Bagwell hit another key 3-pointer to bring Christian County within six points at 41-35. Senior NeVaeh Day knocked down two free throws to trim the margin to 45-40 with 3:41 left, putting the Lady Colonels within striking distance.
However, McCracken County responded with a clutch 8-0 run to close out the game. A key bucket inside by Reagan Hill and a 3-pointer from Anna Hammonds sealed the win for the Lady Mustangs.

- NeVaeh Day (Sr.): Led Christian County with 13 points and 10 rebounds, delivering another strong performance on both ends of the floor.
- Anaysia Bagwell (Jr.): Added 10 points, including two critical 3-pointers that helped fuel the Lady Colonels’ comeback.

For McCracken County, Ava Hughes led all scorers with 13 points, and Reagan Hill added 12, including crucial baskets in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Colonels (3-3) showed their determination but were unable to secure the win against a tough McCracken County team (3-2). Christian County will now turn their focus to another challenging matchup on Tuesday when they travel to the 4th Region to face Bowling Green.
