Tyler Stokes, a Christian County High School student and Agriculture Pathway scholar specializing in Ag Power, is gaining hands-on experience through his work-based learning placement at Jim Moss Electric, owned by Taylor Fowler. As a new partner in the Fusion Work-Based Learning Program, Jim Moss Electric is providing Tyler with an opportunity to apply his classroom learning in a professional setting, helping him prepare for a career in agricultural equipment technology or a related field.
In his placement, Tyler is testing circuits and expanding his knowledge of electrical systems, an essential component of the Ag Power curriculum. This real-world experience allows him to connect theory to practice as he works with machinery and electrical systems similar to those studied in his classroom.
The Ag Power program teaches students about the mechanics andoperation of agricultural machinery, covering areas such as engines, powertrains, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, and electrical systems. Through his placement at Jim Moss Electric, Tyler is building on this foundation, gaining critical technical skills that align with the demands of the industry.
Beyond technical expertise, Tyler is developing important soft skills and employability skills that are vital for workplace success. By interacting with customers, he is learning effective communication and how to navigate professional environments with confidence. These experiences are helping him grow as a well-rounded professional, ready to tackle challenges in the workforce.
This partnership with Jim Moss Electric highlights the value of collaboration between local businesses and schools. As a new partner in the Fusion program, Taylor Fowler and his team are playing an important role in shaping the next generation of skilled professionals.
Christian County Public Schools extends its gratitude to Jim Moss Electric for investing in student success and providing a supportive environment for hands-on learning. Programs like these help students like Tyler bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, preparing them for bright futures in their chosen fields.
