Hopkinsville High School student Alana Ashbery, a participant in the Business Pathway, is gaining valuable hands-on experience through her work-based learning placement at the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex. This partnership provides Alana with an opportunity to apply her classroom knowledge in a professional setting, helping her develop critical skills for her future career.
As part of her role at the Sportsplex, Alana is responsible for checking in customers, managing the daily schedules of activities, and addressing customer praises and complaints. These responsibilities allow her to engage directly with clients and staff, building her confidence and problem-solving abilities while gaining insight into the operations of a bustling community facility.
In addition to learning technical aspects of customer service and scheduling, Alana is also honing her soft skills, which are essential for success in any career. Through her work, she has developed:
