The Fusion Work-Based Learning Program is proud to welcome West and Witherspoon Florist as a new business partner for the 2024-2025 school year. Their partnership is providing Amari Scott, a Christian County High School student in the Agriculture Pathway, with a unique opportunity to explore the floral industry while developing critical skills that align with the Profile of a Graduate.
Exploring the Floral Industry
Amari’s work at West and Witherspoon Florist allows him to gain firsthand experience in the world of floristry. He is learning the process of sourcing flowers from farms, wholesalers, and growers, giving him valuable insight into supply chain management within the floral industry. Additionally, Amari is actively contributing to inventory management while honing his customer service skills, both of which are essential for success in any industry.
Building Profile of a Graduate Competencies
Through his role, Amari is developing the skills outlined in Christian County Public Schools’ Profile of a Graduate, preparing him for success in both his future career and community contributions:
- Career- and Work-Ready Professional: Amari demonstrates accountability by taking responsibility for his work and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
- Adaptable Learner: As he learns about industry trends and sourcing practices, Amari stays flexible and open to gaining new knowledge and skills.
- Empathetic Communicator: Through his interactions with customers, staff, and suppliers, Amari is strengthening his ability to listen attentively, communicate clearly, and tailor his messages to different audiences.
- Accountable Self-Starter: Amari takes initiative in his daily tasks, showcasing his ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of focus and responsibility.
These experiences not only allow Amari to apply his classroom learning to real-world settings but also help him develop the skills and mindset needed to thrive in the workforce.
