The Christian County Colonels boys swim team turned in a strong performance Tuesday, earning a second-place finish at a five-team meet hosted by Bowling Green High School.
Christian County finished the meet with 226 total points, edging Hopkinsville Tigers boys swim team by just two points to secure the runner-up spot. Bowling Green claimed the team title with 706 points.
Several Colonels delivered notable individual performances throughout the meet. Shemar Barker led the way with a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:21.89) and added a fifth-place result in the 50-yard freestyle (29.82).
Kolton Parker placed third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:29.04 and also competed in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing 11th in 1:14.31. Sam Peck followed closely behind, earning fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:31.74) and 10th in the 200-yard freestyle (2:41.10).
Bryce Hamlin posted a sixth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (7:18.24) and placed eighth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:40.30). Evan Meacham finished ninth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:40.41) and 10th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:14.03).
Additional finishes for Christian County included Zachary Manco (11th in the 50-yard freestyle, 14th in the 100-yard freestyle), Calyx Rizer (12th in the 50-yard freestyle, 16th in the 100-yard freestyle), Ryker Rizer (13th in the 50-yard freestyle, 17th in the 100-yard freestyle), and Lucas Coats (14th in the 50-yard freestyle, 15th in the 100-yard freestyle).
JiRell Maxie and Elijah Gray rounded out the individual events, each competing in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races.
In relay action, the Colonels finished third in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:56.52. Christian County placed fifth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:27.69) and sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:27.92).
With a narrow margin separating second and third place, Christian County’s depth and consistency across events proved to be the difference as the Colonels continued their strong season in the pool.
