The final season of Christian County Colonels baseball brought a special moment Friday night as the team took the field for their first home game of the year — and they made it count.
More than just a win, the Colonels showcased the identity they are building this season: a team built on communication, support, and unity from the dugout to the field.
With that mindset leading the way, Christian County earned a 4-1 victory over Graves County, powered by strong pitching and timely offense.

The Colonels leaned on a dominant start from Gage Montes, who set the tone early with four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out eight. Behind him, the energy never dropped — teammates stayed engaged, communicating and backing each other every step of the way.
After being limited to just one hit through the first three innings, the Colonels stayed patient at the plate, trusting their approach and each other.
That patience paid off in the fourth inning.
Blake Boehman got things started with a double, followed by a single from Sebastian Dazey. A misplayed ball allowed Boehman to score and moved Dazey into scoring position. The Colonels kept the pressure on as Preston Stokes drew a walk, and a well-placed bunt by Jonathan Lewis forced another error, bringing in two more runs to extend the lead to 3-0.

Even when adversity hit, the Colonels stayed connected.
A defensive error in the sixth inning allowed Graves County to cut the lead to 3-1, but there was no panic. Communication stayed strong, and the dugout continued to support every pitch. Christian County responded quickly as Dazey reached base, stole second, and later scored on another Graves County error to push the lead to 4-1.
The biggest moment came in the seventh inning when Graves County threatened with runners on first and second and no outs. Instead of letting the moment get too big, the Colonels leaned into their identity.
They stayed composed. They communicated. They trusted each other.
Deuce Embrey closed the door, striking out two batters and shutting down the rally to secure the win. Embrey went three innings in relief, allowing just one unearned run while striking out three.
At the plate, Boehman led the way, going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Montes and Dazey added the other hits in a balanced offensive effort.
Now sitting at 2-0, the Colonels are proving that their success isn’t just about talent — it’s about playing together.
As the team continues this final season of Colonels baseball, their goal is clear:
Be united. Play for each other. Win together.
Christian County will look to carry that momentum on the road Saturday morning against South Warren.
