Students at Crofton Elementary School got a hands-on lesson in economics and creativity during their exciting Market Day experience.
Second grade classrooms transformed into mini marketplaces as students showcased products they had designed and created themselves. From the beginning stages of planning to the final product, students took ownership of their ideas, thinking through what they could “sell” to their classmates.

Market Day wasn’t just about selling—it was also about smart decision-making. Students were given the opportunity to manage their money, deciding how to spend it while exploring the value of different items created by their peers.
The activity provided a highly engaging way for students to learn important real-world skills such as budgeting, decision-making, and entrepreneurship, all while having fun in a collaborative classroom environment.
By combining creativity with practical learning, Crofton Elementary’s second graders experienced a lesson they won’t soon forget—proving that some of the best learning happens when students are actively involved.
