The Graphic Design pathway at Gateway Academy is fostering a new generation of creative professionals, and the latest project by the Digital Imaging scholars is a testament to their growing expertise. Using Adobe Photoshop, these talented students took on the challenge of designing unique interior spaces that showcase their technical and artistic abilities.
For this project, students were required to use a minimum of 10 photographs and transform them to create the illusion of depth in their designs. Through meticulous editing, they integrated effects like glows and drop shadows to enhance the realism of the rooms. The results were nothing short of stunning—each design demonstrating creativity, attention to detail, and a clear understanding of design principles.
Projects like these highlight the value of Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways like Graphic Design. Not only do they teach students the fundamentals of digital imaging and design software, but they also help build professional portfolios that are critical as students transition into the workforce or pursue higher education. By working on real-world assignments, students learn to balance technical precision with artistic vision—skills that are highly sought after in industries such as marketing, advertising, interior design, and digital media.
As part of the Graphic Design pathway, students engage in hands-on projects that simulate the demands of professional design work. They leave the program with a comprehensive portfolio that demonstrates their skills in areas like photo manipulation, typography, branding, and layout design. These experiences not only prepare them for industry certifications but also position them as strong candidates for internships, apprenticeships, and entry-level design roles.
Wonderful work, Digital Imaging scholars! You’re not just designing rooms—you’re building bright futures.
