Fusion in Action: Drake Mitchell Gains Real-World Experience in the Legal Field
The Fusion Work-Based Learning Program is proud to spotlight Drake Mitchell, a Christian County High School business student, who is gaining valuable experience at James Bruce, Jr., Attorney at Law.
Building Skills in the Legal Profession
Drake’s co-op experience provides him with firsthand exposure to the operations of a legal practice. Under the guidance of Mr. Bruce and his team, Drake is learning and applying skills such as:
- Assisting with legal research to support cases and legal proceedings.
- Drafting documents that contribute to the office’s workflow.
- Communicating with clients, gaining essential professional interaction experience.
- Managing day-to-day operations of a law office, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the legal field.
In addition to these practical skills, Drake is developing critical thinking, analytical abilities, and strong writing and communication skills—tools that are essential in both the legal profession and any future career he may pursue.
A Commitment to Workforce Development
Mr. James Bruce, Jr. is no stranger to the grow-your-own workforce concept. Many of his office staff members are former co-op students, exemplifying his commitment to nurturing local talent. By hosting students like Drake, he plays a key role in shaping the future workforce of our community.
