Hopkinsville High School proudly celebrates the induction of Easton McGee into the Hall of Fame Class of 2024. A once-in-a-generation talent on the baseball field, McGee’s remarkable high school, collegiate, and professional achievements have solidified his legacy as one of the greatest athletes in Hopkinsville history.

A Record-Breaking High School Career

Easton McGee’s baseball journey began at Hopkinsville High School, where he played an unprecedented six varsity seasons (2011-2016). Over that time, McGee redefined excellence in high school baseball and earned numerous accolades, including:

  • 2016 Kentucky Mr. Baseball: The first player in HHS history to earn this prestigious award.
  • 2016 MaxPreps Medium Schools Baseball All-American First Team.
  • 2016 Kentucky Coaches Association All-State First Team.
  • 2015 Kentucky New Era Baseball Athlete of the Year.
  • National HS Baseball Coaches Association All-Upper Midwest Region Team.
  • American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region 1 Team.

McGee’s pitching dominance was legendary. His senior year saw an 8-3 record with a 1.29 ERA, 92 strikeouts, and just seven walks in 68 innings. At the plate, he batted .343 and drove in 30 runs. As a junior, McGee posted a 1.45 ERA and an incredible 100 strikeouts, leading the Tigers to the 2015 Region Two Championship.

His talent earned him invitations to prestigious events, including the Prep Baseball Report Super 60, and a scholarship to play baseball at the University of Kentucky

A Professional Journey

After high school, Easton McGee was selected in the 4th round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, beginning a professional career filled with promise and highlights:

  • MLB Debut: October 2, 2022, pitching out of the Tampa Bay Rays bullpen against Houston.
  • First MLB Start: April 29, 2023, with the Seattle Mariners. In a stunning performance, McGee took a no-hitter into the 7th inning against Toronto.
  • MLB Stats: 2 games, 9.2 innings pitched, 0.00 ERA, 3 strikeouts, and a 0.62 WHIP.

McGee’s professional career has seen him excel at every level, including a selection to the 2019 Midwest League All-Star Game with the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Over 122 minor league games, McGee has recorded 33 wins, 518.2 innings pitched, a 4.42 ERA, and 389 strikeouts.

Currently in Action

Today, Easton McGee continues his professional career with the Nashville Sounds, the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. His dedication, skill, and perseverance have made him a standout player and a role model for aspiring athletes.
