The Gateway Academy VEX Robotics teams—8349J “Jugadors,” 8349M “Murphy’s Law,” and 83490D “D”—competed in their first event of the season at the AHS Eagle Nation Challenge 2025, a VEX V5 Robotics Competition High Stakes event. As their competition debut, the event provided valuable experience, helping the teams fine-tune their strategies and prepare for next week’s Cupid’s Clash tournament.
A Strong Learning Experience for Gateway’s Teams
Team 8349J – The Jugadors
The Jugadors began the event with a tough loss against 18640X and 7460B (3-23) but continued to push through the qualification rounds. They secured a victory over 7460B (9-2) and remained competitive against several strong teams. Their efforts earned them a spot in the Round of 16, where they were ultimately eliminated by 6135B (0-14).
Team 8349M – Murphy’s Law
Murphy’s Law had a tough start, falling to 97834X and 97834F (2-37) in their opening match. However, they displayed resilience throughout the competition, keeping their matches competitive, including a close battle against 65554A (24-22). Their determination paid off as they advanced to the Round of 16, marking a strong foundation for future growth.
Team 83490D – “D”
Team D encountered stiff competition throughout the tournament, including losses to 3702G and 4438V (4-30) and 7460E and 6135A (0-49). However, they adapted as the event progressed, earning a narrow victory over 6135C (10-9). In the Round of 16, they fought hard against 18640Y (10-17) before being eliminated.
Looking Ahead to Cupid’s Clash
As their first competition of the season, the AHS Eagle Nation Challenge provided Gateway’s teams with valuable real-world experience, testing their robots, teamwork, and strategies against tough opponents. With Cupid’s Clash coming up next week, the teams will take what they learned, refine their designs, and adjust their game plans to be even more competitive.
