Gateway Teams Triumph at VEX Crusader Crush Tournament

It was an incredible day of competition for Gateway, with Team 8349U emerging as the champions of the VEX Crusader Crush Tournament! Team G also showcased impressive skills, finishing in 3rd place, making it a proud moment for both teams. The students demonstrated outstanding dedication and teamwork throughout the tournament, embodying the spirit of excellence that Gateway is known for.

For those unfamiliar, VEX Robotics competitions are a global platform for students to engage in hands-on STEM learning through robot design, building, and competition. Each season, teams of students are given a new challenge, which varies in structure and requirements, encouraging them to design and build a robot to complete specific tasks. The competitions test their skills in engineering, programming, strategy, and problem-solving, as they work through the challenge and adapt to different rounds of competition. It’s more than just a robotics competition—it’s an educational experience that inspires future engineers, programmers, and innovators.

The Crusader Crush Tournament brought together many of the region’s best teams, who competed in intense head-to-head matches where robots navigated obstacles, completed tasks, and earned points based on their performance. Gateway’s Team 8349U came out on top, proving their dedication and ingenuity, while Team G also excelled, securing a strong 3rd place finish. Both teams showed the benefits of hard work and collaboration, which are at the core of VEX Robotics.

An honorable mention goes to Gateway alumni, who continue to support and cheer on the teams and coaches from afar, reflecting the lasting impact of Gateway’s community. Special thanks are also due to Coach Robert Lee and Jessica Willetts, whose commitment to the students was evident in their willingness to travel on the weekend to ensure this competitive opportunity. Their dedication to the team’s success exemplifies the strength of Gateway’s support network.

Congratulations again to Team 8349U and Team G for their achievements—#WeAreGateway! The future is bright for these talented students who continue to make Gateway proud, learning and growing through the incredible challenges and triumphs of VEX Robotics.
