Students in the Two-Dimensional Design course, part of the Graphic Design pathway, recently embarked on an exciting exploration of drawing techniques essential to the art of illustration. Through a series of lessons, they learned fundamental skills such as shading, contouring, and proportion—techniques that professional illustrators use to bring their creations to life.
Once they had a firm grasp of these techniques, students were tasked with applying what they had learned by creating their own original illustrations. Each student selected one of the techniques they had studied and used it to craft a unique and personalized piece of art. The results were impressive, with students demonstrating creativity, technical precision, and an ability to think outside the box.
This project not only allowed students to showcase their artistic abilities but also helped them build a strong foundation in the principles of illustration—a key skill for any aspiring graphic designer. By blending traditional drawing techniques with their individual creative styles, students gained valuable experience that will serve them well in future graphic design projects.
The Graphic Design pathway continues to nurture the creative potential of its students, encouraging them to push boundaries and explore new artistic possibilities. We can’t wait to see how these talented students build on this experience as they progress through the course!
