Despite the rain in the forecast, the spirit and enthusiasm of the students and their families were undamped, making the event a memorable and joyous occasion.

As the ceremony commenced, the graduates, undeterred by the weather, marched to their seats to the sound of “Pomp and Circumstance.” The Hopkinsville High School JROTC presented the colors, followed by the National Anthem, beautifully performed by senior Jakayla Pettus. Devin Coleman, another senior, delivered the invocation, setting a reflective and hopeful tone for the ceremony.

The HHS Choir performed “The Road Not Taken,” providing a musical interlude that resonated with the theme of new beginnings and future journeys. Principal Cindy Campbell then greeted the attendees and officially declared the commencement open, her words met with warm applause despite the rain.

Gracie Stroh from the JROTC Battalion recognized military families, highlighting the sacrifices and contributions of those who serve. Principal Campbell introduced the Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Chris Bentzel, who offered his congratulations and encouragement to the graduates, emphasizing their resilience and determination.

Co-Valedictorian Kendall Mayes introduced the commencement speaker, Mrs. Nicole Poindexter, the CCPS Full Service Community Schools Director. Mrs. Poindexter’s speech emphasized resilience, growth, and the exciting possibilities that lie ahead for the graduates, drawing cheers from the crowd.

The honor graduates were recognized for their exceptional academic achievements, and the ceremony moved to the declaration of graduation by Superintendent Bentzel. Despite the rain, the ceremony continued with unwavering enthusiasm. Graduates and their families embraced the weather, using umbrellas and raincoats, but their smiles and laughter shone through, demonstrating that nothing could dampen their joy on this significant day.

The ceremony concluded with closing remarks by Principal Campbell, a benediction by Devin Coleman, and the Alma Mater performed by the HHS Band, Choir, and graduates.
