The Hopkinsville High School golf team has officially teed off what will be the final golf season in school history, and they’re doing it with determination and pride. Competing Wednesday at the Hopkins County Central Storm Invitational at the Madisonville Country Club, the Tigers earned a top-10 finish against some of the toughest teams in the region.
Leading the charge was sophomore Henry Riggs, who turned in a steady and impressive 79 to pace the Tigers. Riggs’ performance showed poise beyond his years and set a strong tone for what he and his teammates hope will be a memorable final season for Hopkinsville golf.
The Tigers’ effort didn’t stop there. Isaiah Wood followed with a solid 85, Matt Baker carded an 88, Ryan Martin shot a 93, and Sam Riggs rounded out the day with a 102. Their combined team score of 345 earned them 10th place overall, a finish the team hopes to build on as the season continues.
The invitational was won by McCracken County, who posted a team score of 295, with Marshall County’s Ryan Stokes claiming medalist honors after shooting a 70. But for Hopkinsville, this season is about more than just scores—it’s about leaving a legacy.
As the Tigers step onto the course in this final year of Hopkinsville High School golf, every round carries extra meaning. With talented young players like Henry Riggs leading the way, this team is determined to make its last season one to remember—not just for themselves, but for every Tiger who has ever represented Hopkinsville on the fairways.
