The work being put in by Head Coach Jeff Addison and the Christian County Lady Tigers is beginning to show.
Building a soccer program takes more than what happens during 80 minutes on game night. It comes from the practices, conditioning, repetition and time spent learning to play together. Addison and his Lady Tigers have continued putting in that work, and Thursday night at the Stadium of Champions, Christian County showed what can happen when those pieces begin coming together.
The Lady Tigers rolled past visiting Trigg County 8-0 for their third consecutive victory, improving to 5-3 on the season.
Kaydon Coats led the offensive attack with four goals, bringing her season total to 16. The performance also moved Coats closer to a major individual milestone. She now needs just 11 more goals to reach 100 for her career.
While Coats provided plenty of firepower, one of the strongest signs of Christian County’s growth was how many Lady Tigers contributed to the victory.
Emerson Boyd, Norah Westerfield, Carliah Hobson and Azaa Enkhtugs each found the back of the net. Enkhtugs also contributed two assists, while Trinitee Lopez, Allyana Martinez, Carlie Hobson and Autumn Keaton each added an assist.
That kind of production throughout the lineup reflects a team beginning to find ways to create opportunities for one another. Instead of relying on one player to generate the offense, the Lady Tigers were moving the ball, creating chances and getting multiple players involved in the attack.
The work was just as evident on the other end of the field.
Kaylynn Schwartz and Natalia Filideli shared time in goal and combined for the shutout, making sure the Lady Tigers’ offensive performance was matched by a strong defensive effort.
For Addison and his team, the three-game winning streak is a reward for the work they have been putting in, but it is also another step in what they are continuing to build. With each practice and each match, the Lady Tigers have an opportunity to strengthen their chemistry, sharpen their play and grow together as a team.
Thursday’s victory showed plenty of reasons for optimism. Christian County produced eight goals from five different scorers, had multiple players creating scoring opportunities and kept its opponent off the scoreboard.
And while Coats’ pursuit of 100 career goals will be something to watch as the season continues, the Lady Tigers are building momentum as a team.
Three straight wins have Christian County moving in the right direction. Now, Addison and the Lady Tigers will get back to work as they prepare for their next challenge.
Christian County returns to the Stadium of Champions Tuesday night to host Caldwell County.
