Laura Kaufmann Represents Kentucky at National FFA’s Washington Leadership Conference

From June 25th to 30th, 2024, Laura Kaufmann, an officer of the Hopkinsville High School FFA chapter, had the privilege of attending the National FFA’s Washington Leadership Conference (WLC) in Washington, D.C. Laura’s participation was made possible through a scholarship awarded by The Kentucky FFA Foundation and the Kentucky FFA Association.

The Washington Leadership Conference is renowned for offering FFA members a premier leadership experience while immersing them in the rich history and culture of the nation’s capital. This transformative event aims to inspire FFA members to become proactive changemakers in their communities.

Each day of the conference is dedicated to a different principle, taught through the unique context of Washington, D.C. These principles—exploration, encouragement, advocacy, and service—are designed to empower attendees with the skills and knowledge needed to make a positive impact.

Laura, along with other FFA members from across the nation, engaged in various activities and workshops that emphasized these core principles. The program included historical tours, interactive sessions, and hands-on experiences that fostered a deeper understanding of leadership and civic responsibility.

A highlight of the WLC is the development of a Living to Serve Plan, a personalized action plan that members can implement in their own communities. This plan encourages participants to apply lessons learned during the conference to real-world situations, promoting continuous growth and community service.

As Laura returns from this enriching experience, the Christian County High School FFA chapter eagerly anticipates the new ideas and initiatives she will bring back. Her participation in the Washington Leadership Conference not only reflects her dedication to leadership and service but also exemplifies the values of the FFA organization.

We look forward to seeing Laura’s positive impact on our chapter and community as she puts her Living to Serve Plan into action. Congratulations, Laura, on this outstanding achievement and your commitment to making a difference!
