A Stellar High School Swimming Career

Lindsay Porter-Thomas began swimming for Hopkinsville High School as a 7th grader, immediately making waves by earning a spot at the Kentucky State Swimming and Diving Championships every year of her high school career. Throughout her time at HHS, Lindsay demonstrated unmatched talent and determination:

  • State and Regional Success:
    • Earned 3 Western Kentucky Regional titles in the 50 free.
    • Set and broke the regional record in the 50 free two years in a row.
    • Achieved consistent top-three finishes at state meets for Hopkinsville High School.
  • Record-Breaking Performances:
    • Set and broke multiple HHS school records during her career.
    • Still holds 3 individual freshman records and 2 relay records at Hopkinsville High School that have remained unbroken for over 30 years.
  • Accolades and Honors:
    • Named Regional Swimmer of the Year in her senior year.

Club and National Achievements

Lindsay’s swimming prowess extended beyond high school competition:

  • Won 11 age group state titles in club swimming.
  • Recognized as Age Group Swimmer of the Month by Swimming World Magazine.
  • Qualified twice for the Kentucky Zone Team and became the first swimmer from Hopkinsville to win an event at the Southeastern Zone Meet in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, claiming victory in the 50 free against competitors from 17 states.
  • Qualified twice for the Junior National Championships, solidifying her reputation as one of the best young swimmers in the nation.

Collegiate and Professional Success

Lindsay’s exceptional high school career earned her a Division I swimming scholarship to Miami University, where she continued to excel in the pool. Following her collegiate career, she pursued graduate studies at Vanderbilt University and now works as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in Atlanta, GA.
