The South Christian Elementary School’s Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) is proving that even young students can make a significant impact on their community. Under the guidance of club sponsors Chantale Core and Tammy Wilson, the STLP club has been busy organizing events and initiatives that benefit those in need.

Earlier this school year, the club held a canned food drive that resulted in a generous $1,500 donation to the Aaron McNeil House, a local organization dedicated to assisting families in need. This effort showcased the students’ commitment to community service and their ability to rally support for important causes.

The giving spirit of the STLP club continues with an upcoming dodgeball game scheduled for next Friday. All proceeds from this event will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization dedicated to providing life-saving treatments for children battling cancer and other serious illnesses. The students are excited to bring the school together for a fun and meaningful event that will contribute to a great cause.

Additionally, the club is taking on grade-specific projects to further their mission of service. Fourth-grade students are leading a project to raise awareness about childhood cancer and collect donations to support research and affected families. Meanwhile, fifth-grade students are focusing on efforts to help feed those in need, reinforcing the importance of compassion and giving back.

The STLP club has also achieved an exciting milestone, as both of their teams (Sparkle Hope and From Our Hearts to Yours) have advanced to compete at the state level in Lexington this April. The students will have the opportunity to present their projects at Rupp Arena, showcasing their hard work and dedication on a prestigious stage.

Through these initiatives, the South Christian Elementary STLP club is demonstrating that leadership and community service go hand in hand. With the dedication of students and the support of their sponsors, they continue to make a difference in their school and beyond.
