Tigers Start Season Strong with with Scrimmage Win Over Oldham County

The Hopkinsville Tigers basketball team opened their preseason scrimmage schedule with an impressive 70-60 victory over Oldham County at Fairdale High School yesterday.

The game was competitive from the start, with Oldham County jumping out to an early lead, ending the first quarter ahead 14-9. The second quarter saw both teams locked in a defensive battle, finishing tied at 13 points apiece. However, the Tigers found their rhythm in the second half, outscoring Oldham County 23-30 in the third quarter and pulling away with a dominant 10-18 fourth quarter to secure the win.

Standout Performances:

  • Jonovan Leavell led the Tigers with a stellar 24-point performance, showcasing his ability to score from all over the court.
  • Artavius Moses was a force on the boards, grabbing 8 rebounds to help control the paint.
  • Layton Giltner added to the rebounding effort with 7 boards of his own.
  • Jarae Leavell facilitated the offense and played strong defense, tallying 6 assists and 3 steals.
