Workforce Wednesday: Matthew Houchens — Growing His Skills at Toyota

Christian County High School Agriculture Pathway student Matthew Houchens is turning classroom learning into real-world experience through his placement at Toyota.

As part of the Ag Power class, Matthew studies engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems — skills that translate directly to his work in Toyota’s service and parts department. Each day, he applies what he’s learned by helping inspect parts, track inventory, and assist with vehicle maintenance.

His time at Toyota has also allowed him to develop important workplace abilities such as communication, teamwork, organization, and time management. From understanding how a large-scale service department operates to learning how to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment, Matthew is gaining both the technical and practical experience needed for future success.

Thank you to Toyota for partnering with Christian County Public Schools and supporting our Agriculture Pathway students as they build their knowledge, confidence, and experience in the workforce.
