Choose Discipline over Default.
It is one of the behaviors in Christian County High School’s Culture Blueprint, challenging Tigers to make the disciplined choice rather than simply falling back on what is easy or comfortable. For Head Coach Jeff Addison and the Christian County Lady Tigers soccer team, that mindset is being built through the work they put in every day.
Monday night, the results showed.
Christian County delivered an explosive offensive performance, defeating visiting Crittenden County 10-3 and improving to 4-3 on the season. Kaydon Coats led the way with a remarkable six-goal performance, recording a double hat trick.
Coats’ six goals made for an impressive individual night, but the Lady Tigers’ success went well beyond one player. Christian County continued creating opportunities across the field, with teammates finding each other, making the extra pass and contributing in different roles.
Jayleigh Campbell finished with a goal and two assists, while Carlie Hobson added a goal and an assist. Genesis McGee and Autumn Keaton also found the back of the net. Emerson Boyd and Azaa Enkhtugs each contributed an assist, while Kaylynn Schwartz and Aubriana Johnson shared the victory in goal.
For Addison and the Lady Tigers, choosing discipline over default means continuing to do the things that make the entire team better. It means putting in the work at practice, staying focused on assignments, making the right play and continuing to compete regardless of what the scoreboard says.
Monday’s performance showed what that approach can produce. Even with Coats having an exceptional night in front of the goal, Christian County continued playing as a team and getting players throughout the lineup involved.
That same work and discipline could be seen at the JV level.
In a match shortened to just 30 minutes because of the heat, the Christian County JV squad defeated Crittenden County 7-1. Emma Kate Howell and Luxton King each scored three goals and added an assist, while Ava Myrick contributed a goal and an assist.
Annaleigh Stites and Macy McGinnis each recorded an assist, while Griffin Daniel and Natalia Filideli shared the victory in goal.
Across the two matches, Christian County scored 17 goals, but the bigger takeaway for the Lady Tigers is the continued development of a program focused on doing the work necessary to improve.
For the varsity squad, that discipline has helped put Christian County in position to build some momentum. The Lady Tigers will have an opportunity to earn their third consecutive victory when they host Trigg County on Thursday night.
Coats’ double hat trick made Monday a night worth remembering. But for Addison and the Lady Tigers, the goal remains bigger than one performance or one victory.
They’ll get back to work, keep building and keep making the choice that moves the team forward.
