Lady Colonels and Lady Tigers Battle in District 8 Showdown

The energy inside Tiger Gym was electric Thursday night as the Christian County Lady Colonels and the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers clashed for the first time this season in District 8 volleyball play.

Christian County came away with a 3-0 victory, but the score only tells part of the story. Both teams fought hard, kept the crowd engaged, and reminded everyone why this rivalry always brings out the best in each program.

The Lady Colonels held off a late rally from Hoptown to take the opening set 25-21, then followed up with a dominant 25-12 second set. Refusing to go quietly, the Lady Tigers battled back in the third, pushing Christian County to the edge before narrowly falling 25-23.

Hoptown showcased several strong performances on the night. Madysen Taggart tallied eight kills, three digs, and an ace to lead the way. Brooke Stewart added eight assists, while Abby Surber and Saralynn Major each recorded two aces, two digs, and two kills. Sammy Walker chipped in with two kills, a block, and an ace, showing the Lady Tigers’ depth and determination.

The fans played a big role as well, with supporters from both schools filling the gym and fueling the rivalry with excitement from the first serve to the final point.

With the win, Christian County improved to 14-13 overall and stayed unbeaten in district play at 3-0. The Lady Colonels, riding a three-match winning streak, will look to keep building momentum Monday night when they travel to Heritage Christian Academy. The Lady Tigers, now 4-16, will aim to bounce back on the road at McLean County the same night.
