Colonels Continue to Make Strides, Knock Off Top-Ranked Lyon County 5-3

The Christian County Colonels took a major step forward in their season Tuesday night, defeating one of the top-ranked teams in the state—Lyon County—by a score of 5-3. The statement win marks a big moment of growth for the Colonels, who continue to show grit, improvement, and teamwork on the diamond.

After falling behind early in the second inning when Lyon County’s Colton Prow doubled in two runs, the Colonels wasted no time responding. Johnny Lewis stepped up and delivered a clutch single to center field in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game at two and setting the tone for the rest of the night.

Lyon County briefly regained the lead in the fourth on a solo home run from Brady Belt, but the Colonels weren’t done yet. In the bottom of the fourth, Christian County came storming back—Lewis worked a walk and Aiden Lewis followed with a sacrifice fly to bring in two more runs and put the Colonels in front for good.

On the mound, Nolan Young delivered a strong performance as the starting pitcher, going five innings and allowing just three runs on six hits. He struck out seven and walked two to earn the win. In relief, Sebastian Dazey was lights-out, throwing two scoreless innings, allowing only two hits, and striking out three without issuing a single walk.

Johnny Lewis, batting ninth in the order, proved to be a difference-maker for the Colonels, driving in two runs and reaching base in his only official at-bat. Preston Stokes, Dazey, Layton Creamer, and Eddie Davis all added hits in a balanced offensive effort.

The win is not just another tally in the win column—it’s a sign of progress for a Christian County squad that continues to develop and gain confidence against elite competition. With momentum building, the Colonels now look ahead to their next matchup as they welcome Madisonville-North Hopkins on Friday.
