The Christian County Colonels track and field team delivered a strong performance at the Muhlenberg County Invitational, finishing 2nd overall in the boys’ division with a team total of 76 points. The Lady Colonels competed with heart and determination, earning a 16th-place finish with several notable individual results.
Boys Post Big Results Across the Meet
Senior sprinter Kristen Johnson led the way for Christian County, taking 1st place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.15 and finishing 2nd in the 200-meter dash at 22.37. Satona Bailey also contributed heavily, finishing 3rd in the 100-meter and 4th in the 200-meter events.
The Colonels’ relay teams played a crucial role in the team’s success. The 4×200-meter relay team captured 1st place with a time of 1:34.72, the 4×400 team finished 3rd at 3:49.04, and the 4×800 team placed 4th in 9:33.70.
In the field events, Christopher McCarley had a standout day, earning 2nd place in both discus (139-1) and shot put (45-7.5). Matthew Reeves placed 9th in the high jump at 5-6, and several athletes added points in the long jump and throws, including Marlee Reeves, DeAnthony Maxey, Levar Daniel, Jimmarion Byrd, and Chris Quarles.
Cayden Cline gave a solid showing in the distance events, finishing 8th in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:28.70.
Girls Show Heart and Growth
For the Lady Colonels, Symeria Brown turned in multiple top-15 finishes. She placed 3rd in the 400-meter dash (1:08.93), 7th in the 200-meter dash (28.65), and 15th in the 100-meter dash (14.5), showing her consistency and range in the sprints.
Aaliyah Bell ran to a 9th-place finish in the 400-meter dash and also competed in the 800, placing 16th. Teammates Jaseyonia Wilfong, Kanijaia Stewart, Aubree Cline, and Alyssa Mase represented the team in distance events, gaining valuable experience along the way.
The relay teams added to the team effort with finishes of 7th in the 4×200, 9th in the 4×100, and 12th in the 4×400.
In field competition, Kaliyah Leavell placed 11th in discus (62-6) and 12th in long jump (12-8.25) to round out the girls’ scoring performances.
Building Momentum
With a mix of veterans leading the charge and younger athletes gaining valuable experience, both the Colonels and Lady Colonels showed growth and competitive spirit. The boys’ runner-up finish highlights the depth and balance across the team, while the girls’ efforts reflect a team continuing to develop and push forward.
As the season continues, Christian County looks to build on this performance and make their mark at upcoming meets.
