The Christian County Lady Colonels showed tremendous heart and determination Friday night, nearly rallying from a six-run deficit before ultimately falling just short, 7-5, against Madisonville-North Hopkins.
After finding themselves down early, the Lady Colonels refused to back down, closing the gap with a surge of energy and offense. Alondra Rodriguez led the comeback charge, going an impressive 3-for-4 at the plate. Rodriguez’s bat came alive in the third inning with a three-run homer to left field that sparked momentum for Christian County. She also added singles in the first and fifth innings, proving to be a consistent force throughout the game.
A sacrifice fly and a defensive miscue by the Lady Maroons helped the Lady Colonels inch even closer, showing their ability to capitalize on opportunities and fight until the final out.
Jordan Turner came in strong on the mound in relief, delivering three scoreless innings while striking out three and not allowing a walk. Her steady presence helped keep the game within reach and gave her teammates a chance to climb back in.
Avery Adcock contributed both at the plate and on the field, collecting two hits and helping keep the team competitive in the later innings.
Despite the early offensive burst from Madisonville-North Hopkins, which included key hits from Maggie Killough and Sydney Skeen, the Lady Colonels showed they could match intensity and make adjustments mid-game.
Though the game ended in a narrow loss, the Lady Colonels’ ability to regroup and push back after a tough start speaks volumes about the team’s growth, resilience, and competitive spirit.
